  • 1.  Occupational Therapist prescribing DME

    We have an ancillary office that has Occupational Therapists treating patients.  The will see patients that are not part of our group but do receive scripts stating "Evaluate & Treat".

    My question is: If a patient requires a DME product as part of their treatment and they have a DME closet in that location, can they prescribe this without an additional script from the outside provider?

    The OT's in our office state that the script given by the outside provider would cover the script for the DME product

    Any ideas would be very much appreciated.

    The OT will need a detailed written order from the referring physician to dispense that DME.
